The Vacaville High School football team rolled its way to a commanding 63-20 road win over Armijo Friday night. The game started with Armijo receiving, but turned the ball over on their third play after senior Jeff Beasley came up with the interception for Vacaville.

The rest of the night wasn't much better for the host Indians.

The Bulldogs were able to capitalize on their first play from scrimmage, as Quincy Forte breezed through the Indians' defense, taking the ball 69 yards for the score.

With their first touchdown coming just two minutes into the game, the Bulldogs scored early and often.

During their next offensive set, Armijo was forced to punt it away and the 'Dogs made the most of the opportunity with Forte finding the end zone for his second time.

Armijo found the end zone in the final minutes of the first quarter on a 16-yard pass from Joseph Ortiz to Jabriane Ross.

The Bulldogs answered right back on a 9-yard run from Jimmy Hines, his first of four in the contest. Hines' other scores came on runs of 29, nine and 34 yards.

The Vacaville defense continued to hold strong, including an interception by Forte.

Hines thinks there is still room for improvement.

"The intensity level was a little low in the beginning, but we knew we had to bring it back up," Hines said. "Defensively we did all right. I mean it could have been a little better, but I'd give us like a B-minus overall. We don't like to stoop down to other teams but we always need to play harder than the other team regardless of who it is."

Vacaville head coach Mike Papadopoulos was pleased with the way his team performed.

"We're still trying to clear a couple things up, but the kids are playing really hard," Papadopoulos said. "We cleaned some of the things they were hurting us on early and then we were able to get that stopped and then it went pretty well for us the rest of the way."

Vacaville also received solid play from its bench, with touchdowns from Malique Earl who pounded the ball in from the 1-yard line early in the second half, and from Ross Lopez on a 14-yard run in the final minute of the third period.

Armijo showed some signs of life in the final quarter, putting up 14 points while holding Vacaville scoreless. The Indians received touchdowns on a 14-yard run from Leo Passions and a 7-yard pass play from Brian Wilson to Justin McCaleb. The Bulldogs improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in Monticello Empire League games. Armijo fell to 2-5 and 0-2.
