Vacaville JV football defeats Wood

Vacaville High School's junior varsity football team erupted for four touchdowns in the first quarter and downed Will C. Wood 55-12 Friday night at Tom Zunino Stadium.

Vacaville finished the season 4-1 against Monticello Empire League teams and 6-4 overall.

"It was really fun to watch this team grow," Vacaville head coach Scott Lopez said. "The progress they made from the summer was really great."

Reed White scored on touchdown runs of 55, 7 and 15 yards for the Bulldogs. Vacaville scored on the final play of the first half for a 42-12 lead at the intermission.

Jesse Kassis added a 3-yard touchdown run and kicked seven extra points for Vacaville.

The Bulldogs also scored on a 5-yard run by Darrin Fragoza, a 23-yard run by Terrance Trueblood, a 15-yard run by Jaden Grotke and a 10-yard pass play from Coleman Christensen to Justin Garner.

Wood scored in the first half on a 78-yard pass play from Tyler Rossler to Travis Lewis. The Wildcats added a 2-yard run by Andrew Smith in the third quarter.

Tyler Reguera had an interception for Wildcats defense.

Nick Berumen recovered a fumble for Vacaville. The Bulldogs received strong play from their offensive line throughout the game.

Wood finished the season 2-7-1 overall.
